Before the International Women's Day, bra shop Bravissimo reveals that 80% of women are wearing wrong-size bras. Quite a shocking statistics...
For most women a bra is an essential garment. Girls start to wear a bra when they turn 13 years old or even younger. They will not go out without wearing a bra. Then how can eight out of ten women wear the wrong size$%: The Inter-view team carried out an investigation and maybe the following are part of the reasons.

Keep the same size for a long time
When being asked about their size, most women are confident of their choice. "I am 34B and I've been 34B since 2005," Susan Shaw, a middle-aged woman told us while enjoying the warm sunshine in Convent Garden on March 8.

"I was measured two years ago in Marks :%$amp; Spencer and I kept buying my bras in the shop. I never bothered myself to try it on before I buy it. I know my size; that's it."
But according to doctors, every woman has weight fluctuations throughout the year, and unless women are being re-fitted roughly every six months, they're probably wearing the wrong size.
Buy different brands in the same size
Young girls are always trendy. They care more about the style and colours than the size. They don't stick to a certain brand but they often buy the same size. This is maybe another reason for wearing the wrong bras.
Bra size changes dramatically across bra brands -- there is no one standard bra-sizing convention for companies to go by. Julia, shop manager of Intimacy, gave more explanation on this point. "Just as the Gap jeans don't fit the same as Rock :%$amp; Republic or Levis, one's bra size could be 34B with a brand and 30D with another."
No matter what the size is, try it on before you decide to take it home.
No fitting services in some shops
Most bra shops provide a fitting service for their customers when they are not sure about their size or style. Shop assistants in bra shops, such as Ann Summers, Intimacy and La sensour, have all been trained on measuring the breast size and giving correct advice.
During our investigation tour, we found out that the service in the other big shops which only has a small area for bras is not possible. Even if the shop assistant is not very busy, they might just look at you and assess your size. Bras bought in such shops always end up lying in the drawer without being worn more than twice.
Bras are assumed to cause breast cancer: a myth$%:
Breast Cancer Care is the UK's leading provider of information, practical assistance and emotional support for anyone affected by breast cancer.
It is stated on the organization's web site that there is no evidence to suggest wearing a tight fitting bra or an underwired bra can cause breast cancer.
But according to medical researcher Sidney Ross Singer and his wife Soma Grismaijer, bra-wearing has been linked to breast cancer. They found, for example, that women who wore a bra 24 hours a day had a 113-fold increase in breast cancer incidence compared to women who wore bra less than 12 hours daily!
They suggest that bras exert enough pressure to the breast and surrounding areas to inhibit the flow of lymph, which then causes toxins and other waste material to remain in the breasts instead of being flushed out.
What's your choice$%:
Either way, an ill-fitting bra is not good for you. It may contribute to headaches, back pain, extra stress in arms or even pain in the breast.
For your breast health it is better to avoid wearing bras whenever possible, and on those occasions when you do need one, get a real well-fitting one that is NOT tight or loose anywhere.
